saying no

Hi my name is Sabrina and I like to be busy. And by that I mean, hi my name is Sabrina and I have a tendency to overcommit. I enjoy the things I am a part of and I love meeting new people, but as my commitments increase, my tendency to say yes stays the same-- I say yes to everything. The reasons for this is twofold. The first reason is quite simply FOMO. If something sounds interesting or fun and I want to do it, I am going to do it, even if my health can't afford it. The second reason is guilt. Even if I know I will feel better if I miss something to stay home and rest, I still feel anxious about missing. Something I've had to realize is that just because I do not go to a meeting for a leadership position, does not mean I am any less of a leader. Not going to a church event does not make me any less a Christian. Not going to a volunteer event does not make me any less passionate about the cause I am serving. Instead, I am taking care of my needs. And that is ok. It is not selfish. It is not being lazy. It is taking time to fill up my cup so that I can pour into others cup.
